About Us

At Green Collar Farms we want to create employment for youth in the Green Collar Industry (Farming).

In order to achieve this, we have to make farming an exciting career to attract youth to this industry.

We are starting with the basics of garden plants and fruit trees, with the visions of establishing ourselves in vertical and hydroponic farming. This new innovative ways of farming and the use of technology will bring the excitement of being in this career path, without the need for large open fields.

With the constant climate change, hail and drought is causing massive crop failures.  This initiative is to try and combat this, as well as to farm close to the populated areas to reduce the carbon footprint of transport to market.  This will address the food security for communities.

We also recognise the need to upgrade the soil quality in order to produce quality plants and vegetables. To this end, we have embarked on the manufacturing of Vermicompost (VermiCastAway).  This is the Black Gold the soil desperately needs to grow healthy plants and produce.

We have also seen a need to save tyres from being dumped into landfill sites.  We have established a small team to collect these tyres and converted them to raised bed and planters.  

Being Level 1 BEE black youth owned, we would like to take the opportunity to take other youth on this exciting journey with us.
